If you search the web using the words “financial independence” you’ll find thousands of websites that are all willing to give financial planning advise. While these businesses and consultants and planners are all very much needed, I find that until you deal with your attitude about money (the heart of the matter shall we say), you will continue to find yourself in financial straits. On a personal level I’ve been working on this issue, in a openly aware, and consciously purposed way, for over 15 years. Over the years I have read tons of books including the ever famous “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill, “The Richest Man of Babylon”, “Money-Love”, “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” and a wealth of many others. I’ve taken the Secrets of the Millionaire Mind course offered by T. Harv Ecker (http://www.millionairemind.com/a/?wid=240176 ) and I would highly recommend this 3-day program to anyone who is stuggling with the area of money – that might actually be all of us. To understand where you get your money values from is a harsh and highly enlightening one. Until you understand what makes you tick with respect to money you may continue struggling making it, keeping it and owing it for the rest of your life.
This subject certainly doesn’t escape Catherine Ponder (my mentor) who addresses the subject of Financial Independence in her famous book, “They Dynamic Laws of Prosperity”. In fact it was in my quest to learn more about money that I first encountered the teachings of Unity minister, Catherine Ponder. My life changed on that day. This book was originally written in 1962 and is as revelant in its message today as it was then.
She writes: “One of the desires of all prosperous-minded people is to be self-supporting and financially independent. Poverty is a universal fear of mankind, and many people today are experiencing financial lack, despite the unprecedented prosperity of our times. Once you learn the power which you release through prosperous thinking, it will dawn upon you that the possibility of financial independence isn’t so farfetched after all; you will realize that it isn’t just meant for the other fellow, but that it is meant for you too!”
What an incredible concept. Yes, YOU TOO can be financially independent. You too were designed to have everything you want and that God wants to provide you with the riches of the world. In Luke 12: 22-30 Jesus reminds us that worry is not what will bring you peace of mind or provide you with the necessities of life. You must have faith that God will be there for you when you really need him. This is probably the hardest challenge we all have — having and maintaining our faith that God will be there for us in the hardest of times. When the bleakest moments appear to be upon us we panic, we strike out and we call out to God in fear and despair. It’s very much alright to call out to God in these moments, but call out to him with love and faith and a knowing that he will hear your calling and will provide.
If you can start believing God instead of believing that you have to do it all yourself, believe that you were meant to have an abundant prosperous life and not to live in scarcity and proverty, you will be taking the first most positive steps toward financial independence. You deserve to live an abundant life but you have to first believe you deserve it. Without this believing it will never happen for you.
So with this in mind I will provide you with some wonderful affirmations that you may choose to add to your daily life:
My world is the perfect creation of divine substance. The finished results of divine substance now appear as peace, health and plenty in my world.
I no longer struggle needlessly with the problem of supply. My deliberate spoken words of prosperity release the desired funds to me now. The prospering power of the spoken word enriches my life and financial affairs now, and all is wonderfully well. I am rich in mind and manifestation now.
I use my imagination to see only the good, and I reap a rich harvest of goodness.
