Last Friday evening every major station lent time for the Hope for Haiti Now campaign to raise funds and contributions toward the work and relief needed in Haiti.  It was a wonderful evening event and it was heartwarming to see so many of the film and music industry provide their time and talents to supporting this cause.  I was particularily struck by the song that Beyonce Knowles sang: Halo.  She revised of some of the lyrics to make it more adaptable to the loss and hope the Haitian people are experiencing.  This song, and a sermon I recently heard about finding the  blessing behind an event that leaves us heartbroken, came to mind.  I felt that Halo spoke of the angels that hover over the living survivors of the island.  For all those unfortunate people whose lives were ended on that day and those that will not survive the hardships of this earthquake will become the spirit of love and renewal that will surround the island of Haiti for many many years to come.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FK7iH0yv6Ko

I believe that when life ends on this planet we transition to a different existence.  Many refer to this place as heaven.  But I truly feel that when we lose a loved one through death their spirit lives on not only in our hearts, but that they are always there to watch over us.  A couple of weeks ago John Bishop of Living Hope Church spoke about looking for the blessing when things happen to us that we don’t understand.  We often react with the question “Why did God let this happen?”  Often times when the worst thing we can imagine happens in our lives it is often the door closing so something far better can come about.  It is unfortunate that sometimes there is a very long dark tunnel we must walk through to get to that other door.  I know from personal experience that sometimes that tunnel can take years to walk through.  But it feels so wonderful when we finally see the light at the end of that tunnel.  When we can look back from a difficult life situation after we’ve gotten to the good place again and we can then understand why it had to happen the way it did.

I believe that Haiti, a country that needed the attention of it’s world neighbors, but an almost forgotten country, will survive this tragedy and be rebuilt to a reflect a grander, more prosperous country reflective of the sweet nature of its people.  People who deserve so much more then what life was giving them.  Five years, ten years from now we will see a vibrant new island with advanced technologies and improved beautiful communities.  New growth will happen and all will be blessed with a special halo over Haiti.

Thanks for your hard work on the site 🙂

  2. This was a very splendid thing they put together, they placed these creative people in concert for a plea to get together in common humanity and aid those suffering in Haiti. Don’t bury those in Haiti, Chile and all those persecuted and over their heads in the world by their destiny like poverty!
